Boxabl is an American housing construction technology company headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The company was founded in 2017 by Paolo Tiramani, a mechanical engineer and an industrial designer. The company was started using 2 million dollars funded by the cofounders and has raised around 150 million dollars from crowdfunding to date, according to Wikipedia.
In 2020, Boxabl hinted that Elon Musk, the world’s richest person who owns revolutionary companies like SpaceX, Tesla, and X, formerly known as Twitter, owns a Boxabl unit. The news was later confirmed by Elon Musk himself in September 2021.
The company is revolutionising the affordable home idea. Boxabl has designed a foldable modular house named Casita that costs only $60,000 which is around and can be built in a few hours.
The house is no less of a luxury with a big Kitchen Area with oven, stove, microwave, sink, refrigerator, HVAC, and cabinets for storage, a Living area with plenty of space for up to a king-size bed, couch, and the optional Designer Casita Closet, multiple power outlets and 8-foot tall and 3-foot wide windows and doors as per the Boxabl website. With nearly 70,000 preorders the Casita is set to hit the market soon.

The 60,000-dollar home is facing multiple judgements on the internet. Some say this house will be a great option for those who don’t want to spend much on living, while others criticise it as too costly for a normal person.
But we believe this home can be a revolution in the house-making and owning sector, as it will not only save time, money, and land but will also be more eco-friendly compared to houses built with regular construction processes, which leave a high carbon footprint.
As of 2023, The average home price for a single-family home was $381,287, according to Zillow, considering the highly urbanised cities such as New York, where living costs are soaring day by day and more people are becoming homeless.
As reported by the Castle Avenue, the average sale price for a condo ranges from $785,333 for a studio apartment to $10,899,279 for 4+ bedroom apartments, which is way too costly for a normal person to afford.
In such cases, ready-to-deploy house options like the one that Boxabl provides are game changers. This idea of foldable homes can also be used in the future to colonise Mars, as building a shelter on Mars with raw materials is a way too costly and inefficient option.
Also, supplying these raw materials to Mars will cost billions of dollars; thus, Boxabls foldable homes, can help astronauts stay and research on Mars for longer and gradually establish a city on Mars, making human civilization multi-planetary.
